Komodo Academy Program


Football Brisbane has three levels of competition for MiniRoos Komodo Dragons, Goannas and Geckos.

Komodo Dragons is an advanced league in which Football Brisbane ask clubs to select players of a higher ability to play against each other. Trials will be held and players will be assessed at the trials on merit according to their current skills and abilities. This will be done by a selection panel appointed by the club. Once the trials have been concluded the Club will inform all players of whether they have been selected to join the Komodo Dragons team. During the season players from other teams will be invited to join the program.

All other player will be placed into either Goannas or Gecko’s. There is also a Development Program that is on offer for player that wish to join.

Komodo Dragons

We are looking at taking it forward to Football Brisbane higher division Komodo Dragon groups for the 2018 season for our under 9/10/11.

Our main aim for 2018 year is to establish an extended development group, rationalize training to offer the option for Development players to train with the squad once  for 1.5 hour (Skill Development player, with opportunities to play for the Komodo team) or 3 hours (Komodo team player). This program will mirror the Western Pride Skills Acquisition Program (SAP).

The outline of our entire Komodo Dragon Academy program. Club Membership is for Football Brisbane games only. There is an aditional Komodo Dragons academy levy which includes the following:

  • 30 weeks, 2 nights training at our Club venue at Sutton Park.
  • Training conducted for 3 school term blocks starting the 1st week of school terms.  Program will start 1st week of school term in January 2018.
  • On each training night players receive 1.5 hour SAP coaching
  • Skill driven training game to increase players game knowledge
  • Football Brisbane fixtures
  • We will organised extra fixtures approx. 4-6  match days  (opponents could be SAP team, out of zone Komodo team's)
  • We will support the 3 local carnivals at the end of school term (Springfield, Lions and Knights based on 2017) Carnivals are additional cost.
  • Western Pride affiliation model. Assistants in coach education and football strategic plans.
  • Technical Director support (Jason King FFA C-license youth) ICFC Junior TD
  • All coaches have minimum SAP licensed coaching Accreditation (lead coach, assistant and goalkeeper coach) Coach levy's
  • Facility maintenance to provide excellent training and playing surface.
  • Full club membership
  • Full ICFC Atomic playing kit (shirt, shorts and socks)
  • Full ICFC Atomic sports training kit (shirt, shorts and socks)

In summary 30 week training season, FB games plus additional games, Approx. 25 games + carnivals. Full playing and training kits included.

About Our Club

Ipswich City Soccer Club, "The Bulls", was formed in 1975 with five teams and 70 players, drawn from all parts of Ipswich City, although most of them came from Leichhardt, Brassall & surrounding areas. The first committee meeting was held on 16th Feb 1975. The committee voted Noel McCool as President, Pam McCool as Secretary & John Hohnke as Treasurer. Mrs Jones was also voted President of the Ladies committee. Committee members voted were: Joe Korhecz, Ray Jones, Barry Roberts, Brian Hartwell & John Stains.
